The Girl Child

Apart from my mother,the only girl in my immediate family is my only sister…She is our egg,that nobody should break or just toil with anyhow,because she means a lot to us..We ensure,that she is always happy and treat her fairly and also my parents see to her needs and education and other social,psychology needs..She is the apple of the family..Loved and adored!..But is it like that in some climes and society?Absolutely NO!

There are also places in the world:namely India,Cambodia,Sudan,Pakistan,Afghanistan,Iraq,Iran,Congo and other obscure and yet unknown places in the world..Where women and the girl child freedom is being trampled upon..They in these places,constantly live in fear..The reason of the fear is that,they have no freedom,and no right and no say in what matter or affect them..They are constantly  being abused and treated as not but,good to be traded,or as slaves or sexual objects…

Talking about women being unfairly treated,is not only in third world countries,it is apparently happening also in western world,where women are seen as sex symbol or their bodies used in marketing good,or is it how some models are treated.The one of the western world is quite different,because it is largely due to modernisation and development,but that of third world countries is as a result of primodal culture,poverty,economic,bad leadership and bad orientation,and illiteracy,religious extremism.

The girl child here is a woman,that will grow up to be a full woman..From when she reaches puberty,there is problem of forced prostitution or early marriage..Can you imagine  a girl,who is barley 14,being forced in slavery prostituion,or the case of marrying her out to an elderly man,that is enough to be her grandfather..These are outrageous and unhuman!The world and humanity should say no to child sex prostitution..

There are places in the world,where women are seriously facing gender based violence like in Congo,where the war there has left so many women and young girls in a vitiate form,as a result of mass rape by the militant in some rebels areas.Soldiers rape and maim women,without impunity..These are no more news,it is happening even in places,where there are no war..We should accord women the respect,they deserve..We all love our mothers!Who does n’t?

There is also honor killings perpetrated against women in some places,where they try to or have slept with a man.Especially,when the man is not of the same faith..The father or Son carries out the heinous crime..

There are so many ills bedevilling the women folk.What women need is Education and empowerment and not degradement,and dehumanisation..Women need to be cared for,if given all the right tools,they bring peace and prosperity to family,village,town and country..Then,it goes from there..

We should all be in forefront to be against any persecution or ill-treatment against women folk..Goverment and the male dominated society,should have a rethink,that a woman empowerment and upliftment,does not diminish us male or make us inferior..Infact,it complements…I love my mum,sister,so love all women..So for all ladies,who have suffered,one form of callousness,be strong and empower yourself and assert your right…
