Tell Me Why?
Why do women try so hard…
Woman.
The very essence of being a woman is being able to give birth, to bring life into this world. We are nurturers, care givers, protectors of our own and trail blazers.
So why is it that women try so hard to fit into other people’s definition of what we should be?
We are brainwashed from such a young age that we should have big breasts, small waists and even smaller minds. We are supposed to bow to the all-mighty man and cower to his every whim. Those who choose to be single are thought of as unwanted and God-forbid if a woman doesn’t wish to have children, you would think she was an abomination to to all women everywhere.
We are not all meant to be the same. You do not need to be the same weight as someone you see singing on the TV. You need not worry that your hair isn’t salon perfect. If your makeup isn’t just right, that doesn’t mean that you are the perfect YOU.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be the best you that you can be, but trying to fit yourself into a cookie cutter mold is absurd.
If you have big breasts and a small waist, fantastic! That’s the way you’re meant to be. If you have a small mind, well, that’s not so great. We need to stop allowing ourselves to play the victim. We need to stop thinking that if a man hits us or takes our money, that is the way things are supposed to be. We need to look back to the women who came before us, to know that we’ve come too far to only be thought of as warm flesh. Look at what Harriet Tubman and Susan B. Anthony did, not only for women, but for humanity. Would we be in the same place if Rosa Parks had played the meek female?
Must we strive to be sheep? Isn’t it better to live a happy life by being the best woman that you can be? Be the mom, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother or friend that you are meant to be and let the other stuff fall into place. The only expectations that you should try to live up to, are the ones that you set for yourself. All other achievements are just icing on the cake of life.
You are woman, let the world hear you ROAR!!!

All depends where you’re brought up? in the UK women are not regarded in this way, if women want big breasts etc its their choice there is no pressure from men only peirs. Good article. LB

LB, I would say it’s the same here in the states, women can pretty much look however they wish, but the bombardment of “perfect” everything in magazines and on tv I think leads women to think they are not enough. I had been watching a show called Bridal-plasty when I thought of writing this.
