Indian brides still suffer from torture and cruelty at their matrimonial home and in most cases, their mother-in-law is the chief culprit.

Unlike west, many families are still joint families in India. Owing to this reality, many women still live with their in laws after marriage. However, there are growing incidents of crime and domestic torture against women in India, mostly by their in laws.

According to lawyers most divorces are a result of mother-in-laws plotting or interference in their son’s married life. Mother-in-laws, almost 90% of them still think it is their birth right to ill treat someone else’s daughter.

Mental torture, verbal abuse is rampant across rural and urban homes against brides. At the same time violence, beating and other forms are torture is also growing at a high speed.

There are laws to protect a woman in India, however, the poorer masses can hardly avail the law. It is a sad fact that despite being a woman, most mother-in-laws do not know how to treat someone else’s daughter. As a result there are more woman who wish to live separately after marriage.

The bible says that he that findeth a wife findeth a good thing, now I am not opposed to tradition but if this is detrimental to your life than you need to pray and ask God for direction. If He blessed the marriage then He surely doesnt want you to live in agony. And the bible also says that man is suppose to leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. Those are a few key points in marriage. You do not have to live like that…its just a tradition..its not biblical!!! I hope that you find what you need.
