Life Knocks You Down

     A woman sits on the doctors bed, waiting for the doctor to come in and tell her that her baby is doing just fine and the pregnancy is great. Finally the doctor comes in, and he tells her that the baby is doing amazing, but there might be something wrong with her. He tells her that in the initial exam results, they found what could be the start of cervical cancer. She can’t hear anything, the shock of what he had just said made her brain stop working. Then the word, “biopsy” comes out and her brain kicks in gain. The procedure will have to be done after the baby is born, but they will moniter it to mke sure that it doesn’t get any worse.

     That woman was me, two days ago. I spent most of the rest of the day crying and telling my family what was going on. Then, it hit me – the most amazing thought in the world, and what is keeping me going right now. I come from a very long line of fighters. The doctors told my parents when I was born that I would not make it through my first day – they even made bets on how long I would live. I was a month late and very little in my body was fully developed. But they were wrong, because here I am over 24 years later.

     I have hope that no matter what, I will be okay. Most importly, my husband and children will be okay because I am going to be around for a long time to come. I will watch my children grow up, and I will see my grandchildren at the very least. God has blessed me with every breath, and if it is His time, then so be it. If not, I might be sick for a while, but I will take joy in seeing my family and thier beautiful faces everyday I am here.
