Are you about to get married? Maybe you would be interested in knowing some superstitions about weddings. There are so many when it comes to this special day. I found these to be quite intriguing.

The wedding dress should be white, all other colors are considered unlucky. Superstition does state a bride should never get blood on her wedding dress. This is a very bad omen and they say the bride will not have a long life. When choosing a wedding dress, a bride must be careful in what fabric she chooses. If she picks silk, this is suppose to be very lucky. If she opts for a satin dress, it is considered bad luck. Now a dress made of velvet is said to hold a future of poverty.

The veil for the wedding dress are suppose to worn to hide a bride from evil spirits. Also for added luck, the bride should not try on the veil with the wedding dress until the day of the wedding.

The wedding rings should be handled with great care. It is very bad luck if the rings are dropped. Whoever drops the rings, during the ceremony, then they will be the first one to pass away. Also once the ring is placed on the finger, it should never be taken off. If it is taken off, then it is believed the marriage will collapse.

If the sun is shining on the day you are getting married, this is a good omen.

If it is a terribly windy day on the day you are getting married, your marriage will be full of huge misunderstandings.

If on the day you are getting married it rains, this is a bad omen.

Now, let’s move onto the wedding ceremony. They say a bride who sheds just a few tears is good luck, but if a bride cries throughout her whole ceremony, then this is not good, they say she will cry her whole entire marriage. Also, if the ceremony is interrupted by a child’s cry, not to worry, this is good luck.

The wedding cake is suppose to bring good luck to everyone who eats it. Everyone at the wedding should eat a small piece of cake because it is also suppose to bring the bride and groom good luck. Also it is very important that the bride and groom eat from the cake first. If they do not not, they risk of being unable of having children. The bride may also want to put a piece aside to keep it, this will guarantee that her husband will not stray.

Everyone gives gifts to the newly-weds, but one gift you should never give is a set of knives, for it is very unlucky.

When the newly-weds get ready to leave on their honeymoon, the bride tosses her bouquet to the single women. The woman who catches it, will be the next to get married.

    Christine -
I read somewhere that snow on your wedding day was good luck; a sign of fertility and prosperity.
