You don’t have it in your budget to spend $700 on invitations? Then there’s postage on top of that. What’s a girl to do?
Wedding invitations can be a big part of your budget. If you spend what most people spend you could be looking at close to $700 just for the invitations. In this economy who can afford to spend that much money on some paper that will be thrown away. It’s an area we need to look at minimizing your cost.
You could make your own invitations which would save you a lot of money. However, still with the cost of printing and postage you’ll run into some serious cash. With technology being what it is these days you should consider sending einvitations via your email. Most of your friends and family have access to computers and probably email you often. There might be only a handful of people you would have to print a few physical invitations and mail, like Grandma. But even now Grandma usually has email and knows how to use it.
You can get free templates at various websites to design your einvitation. Some of the sites even have the ability to enter your email list and set the date you want your invitations to go out. That’s easy!
You can still have everyone RSVP, but they get to save a stamp. They can text you, email you, call you or instant message you. There are so many options.
If you go the old fashioned route and decide to buy your invitations and mail them, you need to remember the extra work involved. You will need to address the envelopes, pay for the postage, and order the invitations far enough in advance if there is an error to be fixed. Generally people order their invitations three months before the wedding. If you are getting married on the spur of the moment Vegas style then consider your einvitations. Keep in mind that einvitations are green too!

I think what you mentioned about saving and not going the old fashion way, makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the share!
