Certain wedding touches make can make your day memorable and special for you and everyone attending.

Wedding ceremonies are personal events with special touches to make the event unique to the celebrating couple. Couples can personalize their wedding with number of small touches making their wedding as formal, informal or as distinctive as they wish.

Vows

Writing personal vows adds a personal touch to the wedding and immortalizes the reasons you wanted to get married. Make sure you set sometime aside to practice the vows before the wedding ceremony. Remember to give a copy to the wedding officiate before the wedding rehearsal so they know what to expect during the wedding.

Involve the Kids

Involving children from the previous marriage in ceremonial events during the ceremony and wedding reception is a nice way to blend the families. Invite them to participate but do not force them. Some ideas of where the families can blend during the wedding ceremony include lighting the unity candle and help plan the wedding. Older children participate in the wedding party as bridesmaids, ushers or even walk the bride down the aisle. Younger children can act as flower girls or ring bearers.

Choose a Different Time

Wedding do not have to be evening events. Morning ceremonies followed by a wedding brunch or early afternoon weddings with a formal tea are automatically distinct because of their times. Couples having and early wedding can take the reception to a home or leave earlier for their honeymoon. In addition, wedding receptions at these nontraditional times may also cost less to hold than an evening reception.

Focus on the Couple

Once the wedding ceremony begins, have the wedding attendants seat themselves in the front row. That way everyone can focus on the couple during the ceremony.   During long religious ceremonies, fidgeting groomsmen and bridesmaids will cause distractions.

Bells instead of Rice

A nice environmental touch and wedding favor is the use of a bell instead of throwing rice. There is no rice to clean up and guests will have a memorable favor to keep.  For wedding couples filming their wedding the ringing bells make a beautiful background sound.

Special Wedding Photo Moments

Consult with your wedding photographer about specific photo shot moments during the ceremony. Ask for recommendations and plan for specific photo shots before the wedding. A memorable photo moment maybe the groom walking down the aisle escorted by his mother or the ring bearer and flower girl holding hands before they walk down the aisle.

Downtime

Wedding are supposed to be the union of a couple so include some alone time to enjoy your special day together. Ride to the reception alone together or take 10 minutes to talk without anyone in the bride’s room after the wedding at the church. Remember it is your day and share the excitement as a couple. Sometimes events are so elaborate that couples sometimes lose track of each other on their wedding day.
