My mother called it nestwarmth. A baby wants the feeling that there is somebody there to protect it. It wants to feel loved and secure. When you think back, you are only little and everything seems quite a big and therefore very taunting. Therefore they get easily scared. Being scared you feel your whole security gone. This makes them nervous and they start crying.
