I am often asked if my hometown of “Sparta” is the Sparta featured on the late 1980’s show “In The Heat Of The Night”. Be it fortunate or unfortunate, it is not the same town.

My hometown, Sparta, is the one nestled mid. south in the State of Georgia. Sparta is a small town in Hancock County, Georgia with an approximate population (city and county) of fifteen-thousand. Sparta has a magnificent, interesting, yet sometimes disturbing history.
