Abusers are not likely to change because controlling the other party is what gives them their sense of power. Most of the time, the abuser has low self esteem or low self worth. That means to make him or her feel above the low self esteem or feelings of low self worth, the person got to abuse the person who he deems to be less powerful and therefore can be dominated. Domination and abuse are one in the same because it is the control or domination in the relationship that most often than not constitutes the abuse.
