Carpet cleaning with salt is easy. Probably there is no other product based on minerals that have so many uses. Salt has been used for thousands of years to keep food fresh for longer, for cleaning and other daily household problems.

The sodium chloride, usually known as salt, is the most common form, but there are unrefined sea salt and iodized salt, that can be used in home maintenance.

End of tenancy cleaning experts have tried and experienced the uses of salt and have proved that it can replace almost all commercial cleaners, that are toxic. You can even do your carpet cleaning. So, here are some house cleaning tips and recipes that include salt.

Removing blood stains with natural products can be very easy if you use salt. Soak the fabric in cold water mixed with salt, then wash with warm soapy water. If the fabric is made from cotton, linen or other natural material, that can be washed in hot water, soak them in boiling water after washing. You can remove also rust and mould stains from fabric with salt – apply a mixture of lemon juice and salt then leave the fabric on sunlight for several hours. The sun will whiten the stains without the need of using bleach. Last, rinse the fabrics and dry.

A paste made of flour, salt and vinegar can be used for cleaning brass and copper accessories. Apply the paste on the metal surfaces and leave to work for a couple of hours. Wipe and polish with a soft clean cloth.

You can clean and deodorize your fridge with a solution made of salt and soda water. Damp a soft cloth with the solution and wipe the surfaces clean. You will not need any toxic products anymore.

One more stubborn stain can be removed with salt – red wine stains. If someone spills wine on your cotton or linen table cover, blot with a paper towel and sprinkle some salt on the stains. Leave for about 30 minutes and soak the cover in cold water. Wash as usual.

If the surface of your iron is dirty, sprinkle some salt on a piece of paper and iron. The salt will scrub the dirt and clean the metal.Removing greasy and oily stains from carpeting also can be easy with salt. If an oily spill happens, blot the excess liquid and sprinkle some salt. Leave for about 30 minutes and vacuum. Carpet cleaning will not be so hard and toxic anymore.
