The Fake Shoe Guide
Make sure the next time you buy some sneakers they’re authentic.
Shopping on the Internet is a great way to find exclusive shoes that can’t be bought in stores anymore. However, there is a good chance that the shoes you buy online will be. I am writing this guide to help you spot fake sneakers.
Rule 1:
Whenever considering buying a shoe make sure no parts of the shoe are irregularly sized proportionally to the rest of the shoe. Most fakes have some type of irregularity that will be a tell-tale of a fake. Often, it is a problem with the swoosh on Nike shoes. Nikes with a large swoosh often have too think or too fat of a swoosh or it will be irregularly shaped at the end. Check for this, as well as other dissimilarities, suck as those found on the tongue tag.
On an AF1, the “E” in NIKE should touch the swoosh as well as the “A” in AIR. Some people get confused and say the “A” should not touch the swoosh, but they are wrong. They are probably thinking about the heel tab, in that case only the “E” in NIKE should touch the swoosh whil the “A” in AIR remains detached.
Sometimes in older models of AF1’s, there will be two registered trademark logos on the tongue tag. http://www.sneakerhead.com/309096-101.html That link will take you to a legit site’s archive picture of the “Air Force 1 Tuxedo” (A personal favorite of mine, I wish I hadn’t scuffed my pair up so bad, if anyone has a pair in size 13 contact me.) The registered trademark logos are not always present, however, I’ve seen older legit AF1’s without the trademark logos.

That particular shoe doesn’t even say “Air Force 1″ at the bottom of the tag, but it is legit! The moral is always compare to a legit picture since different pairs of forces have different tongue tags. Nike does this on purpose so that the shoes are not easy to fake.
(Before anyone says anything, I know those particular models are not that old, but I was only trying to describe pre-XXV models.)
Rule 2:
This rule is kind of vague, but I feel the need to remind you of it. Look for any dissimilarity between the shoe you are buying and a picture of a real one. A good place to find pictures of real shoes is Pick Your Shoes. All of their shoes are authentic, and I recommend you buy from them if they have the shoe you are buying in the size you want.
Rule 3:
This is specific to Bapestas. Examine the gap in the star pictured below. If it is big like the right picture, the shoe is fake. This rule is specific to round tipped stars though, sharp tipped stars are in fact authentic in some cases and are usually found with a larger gap. Also, there was never a clear Bape made. All clear Bapes are fake.
Rule 4:
Be extremely cautious when buying on eBay. The majority of the shoes sold on eBay are fake, however, if you know how to spot these fake shoes, you can pick out a real shoe and possibly get a great deal. Examine the seller’s feedback thoroughly. If there is even one instance of a buyer received a fake shoe, do not buy from that seller. The chances are that others have received fake shoes and did not realize it. Check both the negative and the neutral feedback for instances of a buyer receiving fake shoes. Sometimes a buyer will only give a neutral feedback for the fake shoe if they were refunded.
Rule 5:
Sometimes, unfortunately, an eBay seller will use pictures of a real shoe and then send you a fake one or not send it at all. There is no real way to prevent this, but you can reduce the odds drastically by not buying from people that use stock pictures that can be found at Nike Air Force 1 or on other websites.
Rule 6:
Never buy any of the following:
Customs:
A real custom will be an authentic shoe that is painted or somehow altered by a custom artist and is then sold for prices comparable to premium shoes. Since these are authentic, I recommend you buy them. However, most custom shoes offered on the internet are fake shoes custom painted. A tell-tale for this is usually an exceptionally low price.
Factory Variants:
These are always fakes, the term is purposefully misleading.
Look-a-likes:
Very prominent in the Converse All-Star right now, these are the shoes made to look similar to the real thing but do not actually claim to be the real shoe. Don’t buy these.
Samples:
Samples are incredibly rare shoes that are only made in size 9 and do not have a box. They are used to road test the shoe and are very valuable if you can come across a real one, but most samples on the internet are fake. Do not buy samples if they being sold at an exceptionally low price, these are all fakes.
Rule 7:
Clear Shoes
As of today, 11/12/07, there are only 5 clear Nikes, no clear Jordans, and no clear Bapes. Here is a list of the clear Nikes:

Fred, those are beyond fake. Yes, no clear bapestas have ever been made, thats the first part, but also notice that the website is a china trade company. Those are also, always fake. If a website ever, ever says they are a wholesaler in China, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. In fact, if they are a wholesaler, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
Jennifer, I really can’t tell without some more information. But if your referring to the star patch, it is always on the inside, it was originally design to protect your inner heel.

Talha, $60 dollar bapes should right away tell you that they are fake. Bape does not wholesale and only a few stores in the whole world carry Bape. All online sellers are re-sellers, and since the retail price for a Bape shoe is usualy around $150-$200, how would this seller make money selling their shoes for $60?

Talha, forgot to mention, alot of fake sites will say “Sale Price” to try to make you beleive that is the reason for the low price. Their shoes are always “on sale”, it’s just a trick they use, don’t fall for it. You won’t find a clearance sale on collectable shoes because they’re always in demand.

You can’t buy Bapes from the manufacturer or wholesaler, you can only get Bapes from the factory if you are one of the few licensed Bape dealers worldwide (something like 6 of them in the world if I remember right, don’t hold me to that exact number).

Sorry I’m so late again, I went away for Christmas and didn’t have access to a computer, I just got back today.
First, Jesus Alvarado, yeah, it’s fake. It’s another one of those sites that act like their shoes are on sale but they’re really always the sale price. Not to mention I’m seeing alot of Bapes in un-released colorways. Besides all that, kickswithus is a known fake site. Sorry.
Second, Jocey, the site reads under construction when I go to the link you gave me. Can’t say, but read what I said to Robert Walton, it might help you.
Janet, there are alot of specifics you have to look at. Theres no guide to what all fakes will have wrong with them because they all will have different flaws. Your best bet is to compare it to a legit picture of the exact same shoe you are buying. If that’s not possible, check the shape of the shoe compared to a normal SB. If you keep looking at sneakers and paying attention to the details, you’ll eventually just get an eye for spotting fakes and be able to tell from a mile away.
As for the link you sent me, they’re way fake. There aren’t any real Louis Vuitton dunks unless you have a customizer put LV leather on a pair of authentic dunks. Those are $70, definatley not something a customizer did, the white on white dunks alone would cost more than that.
Robert Walton, Kickone.net wouldn’t work when I went to it. It says the site is being updated and all of their orders are being processed. To me it looks like one of those scam sites that set up shop, maybe set up an 800 number, it’s really cheap to do that, and use stolen pictures to sell shoes. Once they have the money, they shut down the website and no one ever hears from them again. Either that or they really are down for updates, but it looks weird to me. Since I don’t have pictures I can’t say whether they are fake or real, but how much did you pay? Mars IV’s and the 1999 retro black/cement grey/red IV’s? I bought a pair of Mars IV’s a few months ago, $150 shipped and that was a good deal, sites like Flight Club are chargin around $250 + shipping for them. I don’t even know what the 1999 retros are worth right now, but definatley alot more then the mars iv’s.

I only paid $50.00 for the IV’s & $60 for the VI’s, plus $20 for the shipping. I actually had to wait to order as the site was down a day for updates (just like when you went). They did ship my shoes & they should be here either Sat or Sun as they left a post office today in the AM that’s only 4 hrs away from me. So..if they are fake what can I do? The site clearly states that they do not accept refunds (or exchanges) unless they send you the wrong size. I was told that most fakes run too small. Can I report them? How the heck do they get away with this crap? Please keep checking the site..I will (or can) send or post pictures & you can decide. Thanks for all your help.

Robert Walton: $50 and $60? That’s less than half of the retail price. You’re not gonna find Jordans for that kind of discount, most (probably all) Jordans go for at least a little, usualy a lot above retail when they’re being resold. I hate to say it, but they’re fake, the site wouldn’t make any profits selling authentic Jordans at those prices.
They don’t accept refunds, typical of a fake seller… You can report them to the Better Business Bureau, maybe threatening to do that would get them to give you a refund. Selling fake sneakers IS ILLEGAL and there have been alot of cases of fake sellers being shut down, but most of the time when I see that it’s a brick and mortar business. That doesn’t mean it never happens to websites though.

Ok..well I got the shoes..yep fake. Here is the message I sent them & I have taken your advice on reporting them. Thanks for all your help but now I feel like an idiot. “Order: EA939020513CN…I’m surprised that it was not fake!! I am reporting you to the Better Business Bureau…I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! ALL OF IT…You should get what you pay for & what you guys do is ILLEGAL!! I gave you real money & you gave me fake shoes!!!!! I could easily have you shut down just like the rest of the convicts that are now sitting in prison for ripping people off!!! My Jordan VI’s..yeah the fake paint on the bottom came off in one wear & my Jordan IV’s..the suede is coming apart & it would be nice if they had a cusion but they have a fake insole thats plastic..not air. I’ve been looking around a ton for these and I’ve got pretty good at spotting fakes but these were hard.. any thoughts? I’ve checked it with NikeSB.org really thourogly but the seller doesn’t have a pic of the bottoms so I can’t know for sure. also price seems a bit unsettling. Giacomo, 4kickz is a legit site. All the pictures are of real sneakers and are not stolen, prices are right, and even though I’ve never ordered from them, I talked to some people who have, and they received authentic sneakers.

Giacomo, space jams? I don’t think Im gonna be able to help you with that, especialy in bigger sizes. You’re best bet is to grab the countdown pack coming out this year with the 11s and 12s. It’s gonna have spacejams and white/red 12s. Best pack of they year IMO, I’m gettin it myself.
But if your really insit on the 2001 space jams, you’re gonna have to hunt around alot on your own, if I see some in a 12 I’ll show you, but to be completley honest I’d get them myself if they were a 12.5 or a 13.

Al, yeah, Soleredemption is a good site to trust. Hottkickz looks all authentic to me, good pics good prices, not to mention more big websites verify it than just soleredemption. 4kickz is actaually legit, I know it looks bad when you go to the website, but alot of people have verified it. If you don’t take my word for it, take NikeTalk’s word for it.

Giacomo, forgot to answer your one question. Yeah, the original 11’s had patent leather. Jordan retroed some low 11s with elephant print in place of it though. If you’re thinking of OGs with elephant print, you’re probably thinking of 3’s.

11/12 is one of the packs that have an un-confirmed release date. It could come in October, November, or December.

Urbanraj.com is fake. It has full size runs of everything it sells, including rare shoes that no site has a full size run of. A couple examples: A full size run of barcode forces? There are 4008 pairs of those in the world. (Btw if anyone has some LEGIT barcodes in a 12.5 or 13, CONTACT ME ASAP!!!) A full size run of bred 11s? For only $150 each? No way.
I honestly don’t think that site will even ship you the shoes you ordered. It wouldn’t be smart on their part to make a stock that big. They might make the fakes when they are ordered, however, and in that case you would receive the shoes, but they would be fake.

Yeah Daniel, they’re just using a stock pic, you won’t find Dunkles that cheap, not to mention they have a really big size range for a rare Dunk at a cheap price. Fake. Btw soon I’m gonna get around to adding a section on fake sites that have “sales” to look like they usualy sell their sneakers for more and you just got lucky by coming in when it’s 50% off when really it’s always the lower price. It’s a stupid ploy to look more legit.
“Cheap SB’s” and “rare SB’s” are like antonyms. Actually it’s more like “Cheap SB’s” and “hyped rare SB’s” are like antonyms, because I’ve seen SB’s just as rare as the Dunkles or Tiffs go for way less than those just because they weren’t as hyped. I guess kids won’t buy them without an all over print lol.
Anyway, a dunk that came out a few years ago and is as hyped as the Dunkles will almost never go for a low price. Popular SB’s normally go for at least $50 over retail just a week after they’re released, and I’m not even talking about the over-hyped SB’s.
The ONLY way you’re gonna find lower price Dunkles is an eBay auction or maybe someone looking to clear a pair out quickly on NikeTalk or Sneakerplay or something. You don’t even have too good of a chance with that. What’s your size anyway?
(Btw you get those Dia De Los Muertos? I saw he never put a pic of the sole up, but they looked good other then that)

Man…. I hate to say it, but that’s not gonna be easy. Big sizes are bad enough as it is because people with smaller feet will buy them if their size is sold out and bigger sizes are the most popular with resellers. That whole thing with the dog fighting also seems to me like it made people start selling less of Vick’s sneakers. Then top it off with a limited amount of the sneaker to begin with, it’s not gonna be easy. So far I haven’t had any luck, but I’ll keep looking for you.

THAT was annoying, here’s a summary of the list:
1. Bloody Sundays, good variety of materials, good colorway (I love black/red/gold alot personally)
2. If you like metallics and you can cram into a 9, I’d buy these asap
3. Is it just me or are these one of the cleanest sb’s last year?
4. I don’t know if you like forces, but if you do
5. Faux ostritch on canvas, nice material contras, and a nice colorway
6. I do NOT like low dunks, but theres something about the Gibsons, probably the pink lining, it’s not something you normally see on brown

Hey, I recently came across the sneakerdaze.com website. They have no return policy posted so of course I wrote to them and asked about it. i have received no response. I want to thank you and Christine for warning me not buy from them. I am very disappointed though, they allegedly had the UGGs I had been looking for since before christmas in my size. Sneakerdaze sells fake ugg boots. The tag even says unauthorized copy and the back of the tag is in Chinese. the die comes off on your hands when you take the boots out of the box. I would strongly recommend staying away from this company.

Andy… those are fake along with 99.9% of Ioffer… If they have good feedback you will probably get some shoes. Maybe even decent shoes, but they aren’t the real thing. Do some more searching on there and you’ll see what I mean.

I think that w-s flykickswarehouse.com is a fake. Look at he Jordan 23’s in blue/white/grey. The sole is too dark. Also the the tounge on the stealth looks white. Lastly the wht/blk/red 23’s the writing on the toe looks white. Not only that but the prices. lol

I just purchased a pair of men’s size 10 white on white air force 1s ‘07 XXV on ebay..I got them for a bargain and I am having trouble identifying if whether they are fake or authentic..This is my first time ever purchasing forces for someone other than myself..The box tag says they are made in china. Now I’ve alwayz noticed that in all box tags the color of forces comes in the following languages: english, french, and spanish; however this one is only stated in english.. As for the shoe itself, in the tongue tag underneath NIKE AIR it says Air Force XXV..Is that normal?? And the lining of the shoe looks a bit different to the lining of my own forces when compared, then again I wear a size 4 in boys..Please help me I appreciate it

So far every site/messageboard/forum I have checked has said that http://www.PickYourShoes.com is 100% legit including the person who wrote this post so I’m assuming it really must be safe to order from.
Anyone on here order from there before? I wish there was a email or phone number thru Nike where they would verify whether or not a reseller is authorized but then again I suppose if a site as big as PYS was selling fakes they’d have been shut down a long time ago.

Okay, I know some people have been claiming to be me. I’m kind of surprised anyone would bother, I could only assume to sell their own fake sneakers. I have not posted since comment #53, any comments under the name “Kostival” after that post and before this one are NOT from the guide’s author.
The guide needs some revisions, and they will be coming soon. I just don’t have the time to night, probably not tommorow night either, but you can expect something sometime on Saturday 11/15/08.
One of the updates is going to be an email adress in the guide itself. That way you can contact me with questions and be assured that it is really me, and not an imposter, possibly trying to promote their own fake site.

MiMi: There are too many authentic sites to list all of them, but try FlightClub.com, PickYourShoes.com, SneakerHead.com, BnycOnline.com, ShoeTrends.com, NapSize.com
Shadow: I’m not going to endorse fakes. But even if I wanted to, I couldn’t help you. I really don’t look into the quality of fakes, I just distinguish fake from real.
Jake: There is no fake with the exact quality of the real thing. Fake quality is improving, however, as recent release quality is declining. Especially in the case of retro jordans, the quality is so bad they occasionaly look like fakes of the originals.
More reasons to only buy older releases, the colorways are usually much better anyway. But I’m not here to tell you my views on sneakers.

Bestplanetsneakers is a fraud! They take your money and they do not deliver the product. It’s the kind of story you can share with your friends the moment they mention they are about to order some shoes on line. Bestplanetsneakers takes the cash, has a cell phone that doesn’t take messages, and emails are often undeliverable. The company address is an apartment building. I should have been clued in to the lovely pictures of shoes off a balcony with the bars in the background. My money is gone. And I hope that one day, the owners scamming innocent people can sit behind some bars with a nasty bunkmate to boot.
