10 Tips for Buying Good Shoes
Buying good shoes is not that simple. You have to remember some basic tips on how to get the best shoes with your budget.
When buying a pair of running shoes, one must ensure that it fits well. Here are some tips.
Never buy shoes without trying it on first, thinking that your size is a fixed number. Yes, it may be true that yours is fixed, but shoe sizes vary among shoe brands and styles. Also, don’t select shoes by the size marked inside the shoe. Judge it by how it fits your foot.
Pick a shoe shape that matches the shape of your foot.
Measure your feet on a regular basis. Surprisingly, its size changes as you age.
Buy a pair of shoes that fits your larger foot. Not everyone is aware that most people have one foot larger than the other. It is better if you have both of your feet measured rather than fitting the shoes with only one foot.
Fit at the end of the day when your feet are at their biggest.
Stand during the fitting process and ensure that there is ample space (half inch) for your longest toe at the end of the shoe. Allocate space for a good pair of socks, too. Socks should neither be to thin nor too thick.
Make sure the ball of your foot fits easily and comfortably into the widest part (ball pocket) of the shoe.
Don’t pay for shoes that feel too tight, expecting them to stretch to fit or that continuous use will wear them out and enlarge them.
Your heel should fit comfortably in the shoe with a minimum amount of slippage.
Walk in the shoe to make sure it feels right. Don’t feel embarrassed at all with sales people watching you walking around their store. It’s your shoes, your money and your loss if the shoes turn out to be the wrong size or the wrong cut.
