The Ped Egg: A Product Review

There is a handy new foot pedicure tool called “The Ped Egg”. Just in time for summer ladies. Men, you need to smooth out those rough feet too.

A week ago I was put onto a new product called the Ped Egg. From all accounts, the Ped Egg was a quick, safe, effective tool for getting rid of extra dead skin on the feet.

So I decided to give this cute little tool a try. I ordered the product on the website and soon realized that this was a bad idea! The first indication was when I thought I was getting two Ped Eggs for $10 (as advertised) and a free lotion product, but my order total came to nearly $30. I didn’t understand that—the shipping was more than the product! (FYI Ped Egg, this is 2008—we online consumers know all about shipping and handling schemes at this point.)

After putting my Visa card number in, I was soon directed through screen after screen of annoying advertising messages, asking if I wanted additional Ped Eggs, then if I wanted to sign up for this program, and that one. I must have gone through at least 10 extra ads before finally coming to what I thought was an order confirmation. But on close inspection, I saw that this “order confirmation” didn’t have any order number or my name and address. I immediately became skeptical. When I saw that they were projecting four to six weeks delivery time, I knew that this “order” had to be cancelled.
I searched the website for a number to call… nothing. I did a google search and found an 800 number for replacement blades. When I called that number, all I got was automated messages. I figured that my credit card company would have to sort this out (which they did apparently).

Somehow I found out that Sally Beauty Supply had these Ped Eggs in stock, so I decided to just go ahead and get the Ped Eggs from there.

Wow. Despite all of the trouble I had with their website, I was so happy that I had gone ahead and still bought one! I popped the egg open, popped it on and started “Ped-Egging.” In a matter of minutes, all of the dead skin was completely removed from my feet.

I found out that there was a special emery board in the package that was to be affixed to the bottom of the Ped Egg and used to smooth out the foot to perfection. It worked like a charm. My feet were the smoothest I’d ever felt them in years.

When I was in bed that night, I rubbed my feet together, as I usually do, and shocked myself. I was like, who’s feet are these?

So all in all, I would definitely recommend the Ped Egg product. But absolutely, do not buy this product from the website that is advertised on the commercials. It may be the same case with the call in number. Instead of waiting six weeks, just go to your local Sally’s Beauty Supply and pick one up immediately.

Pros

  • Works like a charm—exactly as described
  • Emery board is magnificent
  • Priced right at $9.99 at Sally Beauty Supply

Cons

  • Horrible online ordering system—when you order online you will be inundated with ads and pay excessive ‘shipping fees”
  • Deceptive ads on TV ($10 for two, but order total comes to close to $30)
  • No direct contact with company
