With online communities for many now flooding the Internet, it is interesting to see the different uses for them. From finding old friends and meet new love interests, social networks on the Internet has evolved rapidly in recent years, to be Friends Meeting and possibly developed by Facebook and Bebo.

Is it fair to say that there are various online communities of different ages, with the likes of Bebo, the purpose of their attention on youth and Facebook wants to capture the broad age group?

Meet new friends – Many people use social networking sites to try to find new friends, friends who share common interests, thoughts and opinions. Social networking brings millions of like-minded people together so that they can bind to specific groups and meet people who are like minded. People cannot connect so specific as to the choice of the exact type of person you want to achieve or be able to speak.

Find old friends – Friends reunited caused a great site, eventually sold to millions of ITV. The website aims to connect to people who knew, but had lost touch for some reason. This is another great use of social networking, meeting people who used to be in contact with colleagues in school or once used to work.

Romance – Many men and women in the same place can be a useful way to find a new date, girlfriend or wife’s future! Social media brings together millions of people who are not met in real life, because of the location or interests. So if you are looking for a new partner, many people are turning attention to the community, with some couples, even in the face as Facebook, in recent years.

Job Hunting – When you subscribe to an online community, which often are asked about your previous work experience, the companies have worked. You can then find old friends and people in the same type of job. It has been known in recent years for people to seek work through some places and for employers to verify the job applicants on the list.

Search social group – If you are a tennis fan and want to find other people who love tennis, social networking is great for that. All the major social networking sites allow you to list their interests, which in turn allow other people with similar interests as you. It’s great to find people who share a common ground and in the afternoon launch of local events in your area based on the interests we share.

Whatever the reason why people use social networking sites, it is clear to see that they are fun and can be ideal for meeting new people. The danger is obvious, but most say it is largely offset by the ease and convenience of being able to meet someone who could never have the opportunity, in the “real” life.
