Rainy Day Friends

Friends that only come around when they need something from you.
Last year I met this incredibly cute new kid at my school. He wasn’t the smartest thing around so he asked me if I would tutor him in science. Hoping this was my shot to get to know him I said yes. As time went one I realized that we had a lot in common, but I could never like him any more than a friend. He was extremely immature and didn’t treat girls with respect, but I still wanted to be his friend.
At first he was so nice to me and did anything he could to help me. Later, he began expecting me to do all the work. I really thought he wanted to be my friend, until he asked to start copying my algebra homework. I thought nothing of it until I realized he would only text or call me when he needed help. He never wanted to just hang out for fun. When summer came, he just dropped me completely. I can’t believe I was so stupid to fall for his games.
I guess what I’m trying to say, is be carful choosing your friends. Do you notice that they only want to be around you for the things you have or the things you do? Real friends are very hard to come by these days and I can honestly say I can count my few real friends on my fingers.
