Friendship

This is about what I think friendship should be.

When it comes to friendship, there are a few qualifications for being one of my friends. One of the biggest is trust. If I can’t trust you there is no way that it is going to work. I do want to wonder when my so called friend is going to turn around and stab me in the back. I also wanted to be able to trust that if I tell you something that I want kept a secret that it will not end up all over Facebook or Twitter or for that matter told everyone we know.

The other is that you have a good set of ears. What I mean by that is that you listen to me when I am speaking. It does not mean that you have to have perfect hearing. It means that if I am speaking I don’t want you to be talking over me especially about a totally different topic. I, myself, will admit that talking over people is one of my biggest faults but it is something I work hard not to do every single day.

Another huge thing for me is that we enjoy spending time together. I want someone in my life that is going to fun to be around not someone who is going to make me constantly look at a clock while I am with them and wonder when I can go home. If we are not enjoying ourselves, there is absolutely no use in being there.

While I know that everyone has their bad days, I need someone in my life who knows how to make me smile even on my worst days. I will always be that type of a person for my friends. I will always try to make you feel better if you are feeling down and if I can’t I will be there just for you to vent to.

I think one of the most important qualification for a friend is that they are there for the other person whenever they can be. While I know that we all have our lives outside our friendships in my eyes it is important to know that you can count on your friends support especially in times of need.
