Turtleneck Trouble

Why, o why can’t I find more that fit?

I love the changing seasons, but there’s one thing in my wardrobe for fall that I can’t seem to get enough of, and all because I simply can’t find one that fits!  The trusty turtleneck seems to evade me, no matter what.  I was fortunate enough to find several at Old Navy a couple of years ago, and I instantly fell in love.  I am not a tall person, but tall enough that most turtlenecks are too boxy to fit me correctly.  In order to get the sleeves long enough, I often have to size up, and then end up with a boxy looking bulky top, which is usually still too shortwaisted and short in the arms.
There must be many others in the same boat, though, because the Old Navy turtlenecks flew off the shelves and I haven’t seen them since.  I vowed to keep an eye on their website as soon as fall merchandise started to be stocked, but so far, there’s not a single turtleneck on the site, other than those for maternity and children.
I thought that perhaps Gap would offer some, but alas, I haven’t seen them there, either.  I just looked at Banana Republic and the would like to charge $59.99 for one, and that definitely isn’t going to happen.
So, I continue to search and to hope, but I am rather doubtful at this point.  My favorite three that I own are looking rather worn, but as layering pieces, I hope to get by with them for another season. It’s funny how difficult it can be to find such a “stock” item sometimes, but that’s life in the “not tall, but tall enough” lane.
