Moms Work From Home

Women are finding it easier to work part time from home in many situations. If there are children, daycare cost is prohibitive, transportation takes another chunk of the pay check and there are other expenses included in going out to work. Working from home might actually add dollars to your pocket.

Many women like to work, even if it isn’t financially necessary, but when you have several children in the home, is it worth it? Some women are finding it more financially sound to stay at home and work part time. It allows them to balance work and family. With the high cost of day care and transportation, many moms say it pays them to stay home.

Employers are making it easier by allowing employees to work fewer flexible hours from home. Doing so saves money for everyone involved. Moms, dads, retirees and people who are sick of the rat race are jumping onboard. Be flexible but flexibility must go both ways. Work on an hourly basis, then if the hours creep up, ask to be paid more. You should expect more money or shorter hours.

Some employers find it feasible to buy home laptops and DSL connections for home workers. It isn’t only the home worker but employers who benefit from this arrangement. It saves employers office space and facilities. Do ask if you can expect promotions, often the answer is no, so accept it. Be realistic, some employers see home workers as less committed to their job.

Expect trade offs but remember the benefits. Mom is at home with the children. No daycare fees to take most of her pay check. Moms job would be easier if she can arrange her working hours when dad is home to take care of the kids. You definitely wont be able to do as much cooking, house cleaning or car pooling as you would like.

Your whole family should buy into mom working at home. Older children can look after younger ones. Dad can do after dinner clean up. For many moms who work part time from home, it’s well worth it. You will save costs of working clothes, transportation, child care and lunches away from home. Your family will learn more responsibility. For many families it works out with many advantages.

Well, my mom helps my dad in our business. But it’s true that many moms earn from home, so that they can be on same page with personal and professional lives.
