Organising a Hen Party
The bride traditionally does not have much input into the hen party, with most of it being kept a secret, make sure you incorporate her taste into the proceedings.
The hen do is considered the ‘last hurrah’ for any bride-to-be, the final time she gets to party hard, let her hair down and flirt (that’s all, mind) with members of the opposite sex. Woe betides the bridesmaid that doesn’t organise a great hen party!
It’s a lot of responsibility and if you don’t have a celebrity budget, then arranging a hen party to remember is quite a difficult task. However, it can be done if you follow some simple advice:
Agree a budget
The financial aspect of a hen weekend is always a bit awkward, thus it’s advisable to agree a budget and ask for money in advance. That way, everyone is happy with what’s being spent and you don’t end up footing a larger proportion of the bill. Most people are a bit strapped for cash at the moment, so asking up front what people can spend will allow you to focus your accommodation and activity searches.
Enlist some help
You’ll need some moral support if not an extra pair of hands, so recruit some assistance, perhaps the other bridesmaids or another close friend. Delegate tasks - perhaps you can focus on accommodation while your friend researches options for day time activities. It’s nice to have someone else to consult and to share the effort!
Personalise it
While the bride traditionally doesn’t have much input into the hen party, with most of it being kept a secret, make sure you incorporate her taste into the proceedings. Don’t arrange to do something you know she’d hate, just because it’s within budget.
Alternatively…
Relinquish control to a specialised hen do company! Yes, there are experts out there who can do all the hard work for you. All you need to provide are dates and preferred location, then the experts will present you with a list of hotels and activities, within your defined budget, from which to make the prefect hen party. Seems like a far more sensible option!
