A Woman’s Guide to Recession
The recession does have some amusing benefits for a woman.
Times are tough, money is tight, there are so many things that you would like to do but have put on hold because you simply could not afford them. Well, buck up girlfriend! It isn’t all dark clouds and rainy days, there are benefits to this recession and it’s time a smart girl like you started thinking of the advantages that cutting cost has for you. Don’t believe me? Well, here are just a few.
Remember that closet door that doesn’t ever close right, and Mr. Wonderful promised to fix two years ago? And how about that leaky faucet, he keeps saying he will have to do something about and then could never find the time? Well here’s your chance to get all those little household chores and fix it jobs done that have been waiting forever. All you have to do is point out, that with his hours cut and him being home a little more often that he has time to do, a few simple things. Then before he has time to make an excuse, add quickly, Of course if you think it is too difficult I found this wonderful repairman/plumber who only costs $$$$$$ per hour. You’ll be surprised how fast prince charming is up off that couch searching for his tool kit!
Then there is the cute way that man in your life grunts and groans when you asked him to go to a few rummage sales with you, followed by all those pathetic little excuses. Just tell him that if he accompanies you on your next excursion into the realm of bargain hunting, that maybe he can find that table saw he has been wanting a price you can actually afford. Not only will he beat you to the car but he’ll already have the engine running.
You can also put an end to his complaints about how your latest craft project is spread out all over the dining room table by pointing out how much you will be saving by making that mother’s day, birthday, or Christmas gift. He’ll probably, even jump in and join you in your latest project if you mention that the savings may be enough to purchase a ticket to see his favorite sports team in action!
Best of all you can cut down on the weekly dinners at the in-laws. That’s right by suggesting you could save a bundle on gas by going to visit his parents once a month instead of once a week you can actually limit the free advice and the sly innuendos you have been forced to sit through while all the time listening to your mother-in-law asking the love of your life if you are feeding him right. In fact, she will be so glad to see her baby that during that once a month visit, it will probably slip her mind to ask you when you are planning on settling down and to give her that grandchild she wants.
Saving money can be difficult, and it certainly takes a little effort and sacrifice on your part, but just think of all the advantages you can gain by making the necessary adjustments. Now, that is a smile I like to see! Happy budgeting!
