Celebrate Mother’s Day (or any ordinary day) with these quick and easy ways to look and feel great.

1.  Turn off your cellphone

Hearing message alerts or ringing can disrupt a quiet, good night’s sleep or a nice after-work stroll in the mall. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, switch off your mobile or put it on silent mode so you can free yourself from that I’m-on-call 24/7 feeling for a bit.

2.  Keep a journal

whether it was great or lousy, there’s nothing like writing down the highlights of what went on in your day. The time spent penning your thoughts gives you time to regroup, release pent up emotions, and simply enjoy your own quiet company.

3.  Reread your favorite book

Find a spot at home where you can curl up with the novel that most touches you or the mystery that most thrills you.

4.  Give your face a treat

Wash your face with warm water and gently work in your cleanser using small circular motions. The warm water opens up your pores for a thorough cleansing. After rinsing, splash on water mixed with ice to tighten your pores and give your cheeks a healthy flush.

5.  Keep your facial toner and moisturizer in the fridge

After washing your face, get a cotton pad and wipe your toner all over your face, then top off with your moisturizer. This winning combo will leave your face tingling and refreshed.

6.  Create your own spa

Don’t want to blow money on a massage? Light candles, play soothing music, burn aromatherapy oil, and let your husband give you a massage.

7.  Get eight hours of sleep

Save your late nights out for the weekend and get lots of shuteye. It’s not called beauty sleep for nothing. Plus lack of sleep often means crankiness the next day. Trouble dozing off? Don’t bring out the sleeping pills just yet. Instead, get a routine going one hour before bedtime to signal your body that you’re ready for slumber: Drink hot milk, listen to easy music, brush your teeth, make love, or browse a magazine.

8.  Record your favorite movie on TV

Chances are you keep missing your favorite flicks because of your busy schedule. The next time your best-liked film comes on cable, have someone tape it for you then schedule your very own movie night.

9.  Bond with your girlfriends

Sometimes a few minutes of chatting with your gal pals is all you need to get out of a rut. Having coffee with them will cost you a little amount Calling them up at home will cost you nothing.
