People with special taste in fashion now go for good-looking outfits to maintain a celebrity status.

You just bought a pair of ugg boots to go with your hip hugger jeans and trucker cap. And that’s not all, you search the fashion magazine for the latest trends, and then go running out to fill your closet – trendy is good, right? Uh, not so fast, keeping abreast of the trends in fashion is essential to not looking out-dated, but having a closet full of trendy cloths can quickly turn into a big waste of time and money, unless you’re Paris Hilton. Maybe Paris can afford to buy and discard clothes like candy, but the average woman needs a wardrobe with staying power. Just as fashion ebbs and flows, yesterday’s fashion ins are outdated. A true fashionista keeps careful track of what items have just been out of the list. No one wants to be seen in a trend that expired yesterday.

If you are used to wearing trendy items you may want to keep an eye out! Fashions do change over time and naturally the cut and style of modern dresses is very different from even 20-30 years ago. Why? The ever revolving door that is the fashion industry regular breaks fads in the blink of an eye. Fashions change, taste changes and of course people simply get bored with wearing the same old dresses. When you look in your closet, do you see clothes or dresses that you like or are there many, many old, out of style dresses that you wouldn’t have be seen in? All the fashion experts agree that you should build your wardrobe around classic pieces like: blazers, tailored suits, neutral buttons and tops. Classic clothing last for years and is very versatile. The 1970s and 80s saw the beginning of more divergent trends in fashion. This was the result of the ever increasing popularity of ready-to-wear collections by major designers, which made fashionable label conscious dressing possible for the middle class. You will find that every individual item of clothing hand made. When you are looking for the right dress to wear, don’t worry too much about it being the perfect one. Dresses come in all styles, shapes, colours and materials. Try this approach: choose a dress style that you feel comfortable and confident in, combine it with a few tasteful choices (such as a nice purse) and enjoy your evening out. On the other hand, trends come and go. Those ugg boots you bought along with the trucker caps are already passé (according to fashionistes in the know). You either give it out as a mark of goodwill or keep wearing them because you like them. When the trend is over, discard them or defiantly wear those trendy cloths whenever you like. As long as people are not laughing at you in the streets, who cares?

Very nice article. I usually where things that make me feel confident, usually those things are in style. However, not all styles or latest trends look good on everybody. I try to where what makes me feel good and comfortable at the same time even if those things are not part of the latest trends.

I wear what I like when I like and it doesn’t matter to me what anyone else says is trendy, or fashionable. So, I would say that I don’t follow fashion trends just because they are the ‘in’ thing. I guress I never have!
