Wanna look good without the hassle and the price? here are a few easy and simple ways to look good with a budget.

When it comes to fashion, many American teens (and women) trust stores like Abercrombie and Fitch along with American Eagle or Express to support the trends. It’s said that American women spend over $1000 on clothes and acessories. But why is it that we Americans aren’t seen as the “fashionistas” of our time? We buy so much and yet to no avail. Maybe it’s because we feed off ourselves and never pay attention to the things that really aren’t so expensive. So here’s some tips and the trends of Spring and Summer.

1) Middle Parts- Your hair deserves to look good just like your clothes do. But why is it that we put it up and go instead of taking the time to critique it like the rest of ourselves? I’m guilty of it too. This season, a big trend when it comes to hair (when leaving it down) is a nice middle part. It doesn’t even have to be perfect. A middle part is said to bring out the eyes and gives the illusion of high cheekbones. Many designers think this should be used with wavy hair. Kinda’ carelessly scrunched but not with too much gel.

2) Red Lips- Red lips are incredible. The may seem scary but when used alongside a clean and natural face, it can really look hot. When using this technique, make sure it’s put on PRECISELY. Take some time with this. Don’t just slp it on or you’ll end up looking like a clown. More colors popular for lips this season: Chalky pink and orange alonge with nude. Nude lips will always be in style but make sure they are glossy or have a hint of pink in it to make sure you look like you have lips!

3) Sloppy Updos- This trend has to be my favorite. Alot of times, I just don’t have time to really try and look fashionable. Sure, I normally can tell what the most popular trends are, but I’m always late. For everything. I normally have my hair up in a messy bun. Finally, it’s in style again! Messy buns are great especially if you do it right. When you have your hair in a typical ponytail, tease the tail a bit and put it up, ensuring some pieces fall out or stick out. Top it off with a nice headband or other hair acessory.

4) Brown Eye Shadow- This trend is another one that will always be in style. this season is all about fresh and natural makeup. This includes eyeshadow. Natural brown eye shadow is especcially nice on blue eyed ladies. Brown has a tendancy to make blue eyes pop. Don’t believe me? Ask around!

5) Bangs- Bangs or fringes seem to have been around for a couple of years. The side swept bang seems to be the weapon of choice. But now it seems as though stright bangs are making a come-back. If hit right at the eyebrows, this hair-do will give the illusion of bigger eyes, even if you know they seem small!

6) Flushed Cheeks- Cheeks with a bit of pink (cream blushes works well) always gives the look of natural and minimalistic. But please don’t go overboard. That could pose as a problem. Another helpful hint? Using a light brown blush, brush right under your cheeks to give the look of higher cheekbones. This is a trick the runway models use.

7) Strong Eyeliner- I have a strong love-hate relationship with eyeliner. I love it but hate when it looks like a racoon, or better yet, a ring around the rosy. When using eyeliner, try making the top of the eye very intense but leave the bottom a la naturale. Another trend: Metallic eyeliner. It’s futuristic and cool. I’m sure with metallic eyes, you’re sure to gt many compliments. When using the trend, use minimal makeup otherwise.

8) Shirt Dresses- The best way to pull off this look is to buy a nice tunic or oversized (not too oversized) sweater and wear leggings or a leotard underneath. Complete with a belt around the waist and some cute shoes and you have become one of the most popular looks of the season. Shirt dresses are meant to be short, much like a mini-dress.

9) High Waists- That’s right, think 70’s. High waists are back (hence the belt around the natural waist). This includes dresses with high belts and even jeans. This look exemplifies the fashion forward look found in Hollywood, New York, London, and Milan.

10) Big Bags- I have just recently taken adantage of this style and I don’t know how I lived without it. Big bags are lovely just so you can fit everything that the typical woman needs inside. Any big bag will do; it definitely doesn’t have to be designer. But if you really want to take advantage of this look and really show off your fashion side, buy a really nice bag but keep everything else minimal.

11) Edie Sedgwick- Remember the lady- friend of Andy Warhol? Her look has now made a HUGE comeback. With the movie, Factory Girl starring Sienna Miller, coming out there’s no wonder why everyone wants to look like her. She exemplifies what artistic, cool, cute, and carefree really is. If you can take Edie’s look and apply it to your wardrobe, you will have no fear but only compliments coming your way. Big ways to do this: Think bold patterns and exceptionally bright colors.

12) Slimming it Down- Skinny everything is in… Except overly skinny models. From skinny jeans to tailored shirts. Even skinny acessories. Skinny jeans would probably be the most popular out of all of these but only for the specific body type. I would suggest to only wear skinny jeans if you have a petite body frame. If not, you may not like the outcome.

13) Wedge Shoes- Shoes complete the outfit and everyone knows I love a good pair of shoes. Hemlines seem to rise and so do the heels, but many people don’t like the idea of walking around in a high heel with no support. Wedges are the best of both worlds and are definitely easier to walk in. A nice wedge is very important this season. I would suggest a nice bronze since they tend to match more often than not. Color is very in as well. When trying to find a nice color, go bold like yellow, purple, or teal.

14) Peeptoes and Pointy Shoes- Pointy toed shoes elongate the legs and are perfect on any shoe size, any woman. Also, peeptoes bring out the 60’s girl in everyone. I would suggest something funky yet innocent when using the peeptoe. Maybe polka-dots or suede. Like I said, I love shoes. they can definitely make or break an outfit. Be cautious. Try not to shop on the clearance rack for shoes.

15) Romantic- The romantic style will never go out of style. The only thing that changes is the amount of different pieces of the whole style. Ruffles are back in as well as sheer tops. Nude is the new color of choice when it comes to sophisticated style. Floral works in the hair (like in a cute clip) but notso much on the body. When wearing this look, make sure you feel romantic to really complete the look.

So there you go, the top 15 fashion styles for Spring/Summer 2007. I’ve scrounged and surveyed and these are my results. You dont have to pay $1000 to look good, just do the little things that can drastically make a you look wonderful.
