The latest trend in fashion sporting the runways to the subways. Skulls! Pulling back the flesh from society, our true face is revealed.
The new trend on the block for women’s fashion this fall is skulls. That’s right, that hunk of bone beneath the flesh of the lovely that should bring about the fear of death in our hearts is now emblazoned on just about every article of clothing and accessory imaginable. High fashion has brought about the instigation of a trend in this macabre sign in the general populace, once a treasured emblem of the Goths, punks and alternatives. From the runways to the subways you’ll find it all, from the serious, to the cutesy.
Does it remind us even for a moment of our own mortality? When we see these, is it just a cool thing to wear, a symbol of our status, or a constant reminder of our own eminent future. To some it is ugly and uncomfortable. To others it is beautiful and hip. In essence, it is our own future staring at us. Now of course is the time to profit from it. Now is the time to make oneself beautiful with it. When our faces look like those fashionable designs, it won’t be much use to us.
It is a simple thing to dismiss this trend as a passing fad and so on. We must be mindful though, in this appearance that is being revealed, to recognize its message. Within the subconscious minds of the masses, collectively we are crying out for recognition of our ultimate nature. This material world holds not what we truly seek for. A constant reminder of how precious and short this life is, sport the skulls with pride, my sisters! Be mindful of the time when others may see us and our faces reflect back that very image now so fancifully displayed like peacock feathers.
