Skirts and gowns have gone through transformations. They have changed from tiered style to the stretch, tweed, frayed hem details, crinkle and print. Today, flowing and sweeping skirts are the vogue in most parts of the world.

The outstanding feature of this type of skirts and gown is its flowing nature. When the wearer sits and crosses her legs, it flows and glows. Sweeping skirts have their distinctive rules. They are mostly made with African fabrics such as Ankara, brocade, satin, kente, wax, aso-oke, laces and woodin. The blouse that goes with flowing skirts is the bustier or body hugging tops, halter necks, spaghetti, and other body fitting tops. The advantage is that is fits all. The tiny hips, the heavy hips, the slim legs, plump legs, dark spotted with scabies, all are accommodated in sweeping flowing skirts. The tips could be twisted, frilled, smocked or tiered.
One thing to bear in mind is that sweeping skirts are not casual wears, they are mostly occasional wears.

This garment is beautiful, however, I don’t see many women wearing them. They are in a few magazines, though.
