Ruffles, ridges, pleating, knotting, tassels and shredding are summer’s hot new fashion look that shows no sign of cooling down for fall fashion.

The old potato chip commercial used to tout that “ruffles have ridges”, well ruffles and ridges aren’t just for potato chips any more. Ruffles, ridges, pleating, knotting, tassels and shredding are adding the textured look to clothing, shoes and handbags for summer’s hot new look.

Fashion embellishments in the form of texture make garment look unique and custom made, not mass produced and bought off the rack. The textured look from smooth to rough, shiny to matte excites the eye and calls attention to the good and draws the eye away from the body areas that are less (or more) than the wearer wishes them to be.

Ruffles at the neckline or down the front of a blouse will draw the eye upward and make the wearer look taller and slimmer. Textured ruffles at the waist will emphasis a small waist and ruffles at the hemline will elongate the leg and make one look taller. A monochromatic fashion color scheme will a few well placed textured ruffles will elegantly elongate the entire body and take you from daytime wear to evening wear.

If ruffles seem to girlie, offset the girliness with a pair of biker boots, boyfriend blazer or other gritty attire.

Ruffles, ridges, pleating, knotting, tassels and shredding are summer’s hot new look that shows no sign of cooling down for fall fashion. Invest in a few ruffles to carry your fashion wardrobe through the next several months and beyond.
