Most shoe retailers presently offer a wide variety of platform shoes for women.
Platform shoes for women first became fashionable over 7 decades ago. Platform shoes for women were featured in fashion magazines in 1936.
Fashion is a cycle, and platform shoes reappeared in the 1970s, making their mark on the fashion scene in magazines and on the runway.

Women often complain that platform shoes are heavy and cumbersome. Although some women like platform heels and sandals because they make them appear taller, other women dislike the unsteadiness they feel when wearing platform shoes. These factors in part contribute to platform shoes falling out of favor after a while.
However they always return to grace the feet of fashionable women. Clothing brand Mackage has paired their leather creations with platform shoes. This Mackage code will give you discounts on items from their line, which always impresses.

The latest surge in the popularity of platform shoes can be traced back to the Spice Girls. The band often wore platform shoes when they were making public appearances.

Aldo delivers trendy designs at reasonable prices. Popular Aldo Shoes styles for women include the Sheikh Aldo and the comfortable and stylish Walking Cradles Women’s Aldo Slingback.
Aldo Sawallich Women’s Wedge Shoes feature a back-zip closure. These wedge shoes may be a little high for some, but otherwise, customers say the shoes are comfortable to walk in.
Walking Cradles Women’s Aldo Slingback measures 2 inches at the heel and ¾ inches at the platform; this makes the shoes fairly comfortable to walk in. The shoes are made from genuine leather and are lined with suede-like fabric.

im one of those who feel that platform shoes are quite heavy, but that could be a benefit. its like lifting weights while walking, must be good for the calves and legs.

I could endure to wear the wedge type platform shoes, but not the stilleto type pumps.
Still for someone like me who is used to waring rubber shoes, it’s quite an effort to wear these things.

oopss…that’s supposed to be *wearing* not *waring*. I missed a letter there

It does give the additional height advantage though it looks uncomfortable to wear. I can’t imagine walking in them for long distances. Sexy can be painful.:)

Lisa, I like the look of the platform heels and I do think they’re more comfortable than regular heels. The wedges are another story. To each his own.
