New Movie Oblivion Is Sci-Fi at Its Best.

A new film directed by Joseph Kosinski has just become available. Written by Karl Gajdusek and Michael Arndt, the movie appears to be a classic Sci-fi production that will keep you in suspense until the end. The story revolves around Earth, presented as a devastated planet, and a hero that tries to understand why humans had to leave Earth since they were the ones that won the war. The movie is available on DVD for purchase, but if you’re not that keen on buying a hard copy, or simply want to enjoy a more comfortable alternative, you can always download it from Charter Cable, via their on-demand movie and TV service.

About the movie

The surface of the planet is devastated by the war against the aliens.  Jack (Tom Cruise), a drone repair man, discovers something that will make him question the motives behind the war to begin with. He starts to have doubts on what he knew about the mission he was on and as he and Victoria need to complete the mission and leave earth, he tries to find more answers.

What makes the film interesting is the fact that the viewers are locked in a puzzle until the movie ends. The plot is slowly revealed and the visuals presenting the devastated Earth war zone are breathtaking. Images of gadgetry will also be available for true sci-fi lovers as surgical white drones and the main characters transforming motorcycle will blow you away.

In order for the movie to show the bombed landscape that was on Earth, the sky footage was projected on a 500 by 45 feet screen. This installation had 21 monitors that were in fact weeks of footage of a volcano situated in Hawaii. It took weeks for a crew made of 10 technicians to install and tune it. The final result is indeed breathtaking.

Upcoming Profits

Latest news regarding the film suggests that the movie will not make $100 million in the United States, but the movie is making big profits in Russia, South Korea and Australia. It seems that the American public does not enjoy this sci-fi part of Cruise.

Also, Tom Cruise will be back for “Mission Impossible 5”, as Paramount representatives were eager to confirm. The artist  is has also just finished playing “Jack Reacher” last year, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Recently, Tom Cruise had also been announced to play in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” and to star as Napoleon Solo. It seems Cruise dropped the project at the last minute.
