Are You The Next Fashion Designer?
Fashion exists in all of us. Each and every one has our own individual style – something that shows what we are to the world. Here’s a site that can make you the next fashion designer.
Coco Chanel – “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
In all of us, lies a sense of fashion. Fashion is what defines you. It presents you. It makes you. It models you into who you are. Each one of us has our own sense of style and the way we present ourselves to the world and this must be embraced. I never really was much into fashion. Okay, I did like having nice clothes, it felt good and I do like Grazia, Vogue and Cosmo – you know the works. Shopping is one of my favourite things to do. But recently, I discovered a really strange penchant for fashion in me and now I feel like spreading the fashion love.
I present to you www.polyvore.com . It works in a simple way. You join it and then you embark on your journey of fashion-filled goodness by putting together outfits. What I love about this site is it really helps your creative juices flow but in fashion. It is like a visual representation of you. It tells you about the kind of colours and shapes you think will look good. Another point of this site I absolutely adore is that it’s like shopping but for free. You can pick out any Diane Von Furstenberg dress and some brilliant Marc Jacobs coat and you aren’t charged anything for doing so. Who cares if the total price of the outfit is £ 9999.99? You are getting it all for free…virtually. Polyvore is also great because it has real contests sponsored by big names in the fashion industry. To name a few, there have been Katy Perry competitions, Vera Wang competitions and many more but the main selling point of putting together outfits and submitting them to these contests is the prize. These are decent prizes to say the least! It is quite a reward, considering you are sitting in the luxury of your own house and putting together outfits. You get cash prizes. You get make up and what not! Polyvore teaches you a lot about fashion – like what you like and its networking feature enables you to take a look at others’ designs and probably incorporate it into your own fashion sense. As you make more ‘sets’ as these outfit designs are called, you find that your own sense of style in the real world starts developing.

Above is an outfit I did, which I think is my best so far.
I liked nice clothes before and I always thought my sense of fashion was a bit conventional but after I joined Polyvore, I feel that I’ve been inspired to try out more outrageous styles and slightly more unconventional styles. It keeps me up to date with what are the best looks for certain times – like fur coats, or the super-stylish nautical look.
If you think you aren’t quite the fashion designer, you may be wrong! Fashion can be anything and it can be right. It doesn’t matter if you like short skirts or if you like your comfy dungarees, fashion is what defines you. Join this site and put together outfits, it doesn’t take much of your time and although you may feel there’s not much happening, you will find that you will be inspired to print that virtual fashion sense into you. And fashion is what presents you to the big world out there. Whether you are 6, 16, or 60, it doesn’t matter, you can look good at any age and you can feel good at any age.

So if you think that you could be the next Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood, then join www.polyvore.com and I assure you, it won’t disappoint. You will feel cool, you will feel styles and you will feel wild!
In the words of Yves Saint Laurent, a famous French designer (whose adverts you MUST have seen on the telly) – “Fashions fade, style is eternal”.

Awesome article, and you are so correct, anyone can become the next fashion designers, and you state the “gifted” as being the key.
Excellent
