Why it’s important to take a trip. We all need to just get away sometimes.
Trips are really great to refresh our minds. Sometimes, we just need to get away for a period of time. You know, away from our daily lives and all things we are used to. Just to see some place new, or a weekend trip somewhere else.
I’m going to make this one short, because as we speak, I am getting ready to take a trip to Maine. I’m leaving in a few hours and I have a five hour drive ahead of me (with no radio). I’ve got my snacks waiting in the car and a yummy Snapple Peach tea drink.
I’m mostly packed and have a few more things to pack and bring.
I’m headed to Maine for my neices and nephew’s birthday party weekend. So Saturday will be a really fun ice skating party. I don’t think the parents will be skating, but the kids will be. I’m bringing my camera and my charger so I can be guarunteed to be able to take lots of pictures.
My ex is bringing the kids tomorrow, but I wanted a head start today to spend some extra time with my sister and her family. I’m originally from Maine and still have the Maine accent.
Then of course there is going to be a really fun sleepover with all the cousins. There are seven of them total. My four and my sister’s three. The girls will probably be up into the wee hours of the morning. And it’s possible they could be sneaking out late at night for a piece of pizza.
The cousins have a dog, Thunder (black lab) and two cats, Blake and I’m forgetting the name of the little one.
Julia has been warned that the laptop won’t be here when she gets home from school. Wah!!! But when they arrive at the cousin’s house there will be plenty of laptops available for the kids to play the games. I’m bringing the HTC tablet and my nook, pads of paper, my knitting.
I’ve started another honeycomb cabled headband. I was surprised to see that my cabled headband for sale on Ebay has been bid on and will sell. So, I probably should be making some more for that and the craft show in November. My friend and her mom both want to do the show too, so right now we are waiting to hear back on the paper work to do it. It’s still early and the PTO might not have everything planned yet.
My friend has been busy making flower wreaths and her mother n law makes felted hats, pocket books and other knitted items. It will be fun. We might not all be seated together this year, but at least we will be in the same building and we can take a short break and go visit each other’s booths.
Before I head to Maine, I want to print out some pages of The Glorious Money Tree novel in progress for an aunt and perhaps an uncle. My aunt is visiting from out west and has been staying with my Dad. I called him yesterday to bring his framed wedding picture of him and my Mom as I want to do a pretty setup with it for pictures for the recipe book on Mom.
I figured out a title for it a few days ago and it is in the early stages.
Memories of Mom, stories and family recipes from a beautiful life.
I’ve got the first inside page done with her high school picture, date of birth and death underneath and my title. Then I’ve written an introduction page or two and then some pages of the beginnings of her life and who she was.
It’s too early for adding the recipes just yet. But I’ve done several photo sessions of her stuff, pictures, etc… There will be lots of pretty pictures in it too.

I won’t say it as a trip for my situation, but I love to be far away and alone from my world when everything seems to be overflowing in my life. Good share.
