Where Does a Single Mother Get Help?

I am a single mother who kept hear our dear president talk about single mothers going back to school and they would get some help!   Recently, I have found out that is full of baloney and below is my story.  Anyone out there have any suggestion let me know.

I go to school three day a week to became part of this lovely health care department.   Tuesday- I go from 5:30 in the morning to 5:30 at night.   Then I come home to my four year old son who wants to spend time with me (which I honestly enjoy) and to my 52 year old mother who lives with me.   I support her due to health problems such as the heart and asthma.    My one brothers lives with me and get paid from unemployed.   He  lost his jobs in the downsizing.   

Well,  I bring home $1400 in a month and   Sam (my brother) brings home $600 a month.   ,So one day when I actually had the time a friend of mine suggested we go out to Public Aid to fill out an application for food stamps.  Out my brother and I went.   

Needless, to say we got told we were under the amount to earn food stamps  I thought I could actually put some extra food in the house.  You see I work in the health care department in a nursing home and my co-workers who work with me earn the same amount on their paycheck.   Well, they talk about getting $600. food stamps ,so STUPID me thought I would get the same.   Everyone laugh here!!

We were suppose to get a letter telling us how much we would earn.   One day the letter arrived and imagine my surprise when the amount we earned was only $250.   Why the difference?

The lady at the public aid decided not to tell us that she times it by 2.15 ,so since we were near the amount we wouldn’t get as much.   Nice right?   She times it by 2.15 because of the two months everyone gets three check.   Those checks I always thought were  a blessing to get ahead on bills and some extra food.   They just became a hindrance.

Now, my other brother would like to move in and help us.   The lady at the public aid tells me if he does she have to kick us off public aid because we will make too much money.    What do I do about my brother and the extra money?

How does anyone get cash assistance from public aid?   A friend told me that if you had a child you would get some assist in that department.  Me- I got zip.   My co-workers get $250.  to help get some stuff for her child.

Anyone out there can tell me what I did wrong let me  know!!  Any suggestions where I can go to get help let me know?  Would the president like to tell me where the help for single mothers?
