The Highest Salaried Job

…since the payment is genuine respect and pure love.

It always fascinates me whenever I hear my pupil’s mothers talk so energitically about their kids. In fact, it amazes me the most when they complain about the fact that it is so hard to be mothers and yet it looks like they’re smiling and having more fun than pain when they talk about it. In my point of view, it seems like their role is way too hard but they’re loving and savoring every moment of it.

If anyone would ask me today the top persons I could not live without. With no hesitation, my mom would occupy my number 1 slot. She never left me ever since. She gave me freedom when I needed it. She protected me and still protects me when it seems I can’t protect myself. In fact, she smiles with my accomplishments and I’m sure she’s feeling more hurt than I am whenever there are moments that my heart breaks.

Maybe, you would consider it a fact when I say that mothers are precious gifts from God. The true essence of motherhood signifies God’s law of love…pure, gentle, and true. These women is a good representation of loyalty, patience, and dedication. It cannot be denied nowadays, that there are successful career women giving up their careers and sacrificing their lifestyle to be a full-time mom. It seems like it gives them satisfaction, pride, and fulfillment  when they can see that they have raised their children properly, healthily, and happily. With no question involve, they are so ready to give up everything they own for the sake of the children who came from their womb. They don’t even care how they look sometimes because they were so busy caring for their children aside from being a wife. As my mother always says, “Isusubo mo na lang, ilulluwa mo pa para sa anak mo.”  ( Mothers would rather give the food to her children even she’s supposed to eat it.)

A mom would wake up earlier than the sun and sleeps so late to ensure that tomorrow is ready for her beloved kids. Such a tiring job! It’s no question that the number of women not wanting children are increasing in statistics. But still, vast majority of women is looking forward to be a mom. Why? In my own opinion,  despite the fact that mothers undergo hard work and a little turmoil physically, emotionally, financially, etc…Being a mom is incomparable.

I am not yet a mother biologically. ( I would rather be a bride first before becoming a mother. lol!) But I would say I am a mom by heart – to my nephews, niece and 60 plus students. I can’t forget the situation when I rushed my nephew to the hospital anxiously and fearfully. But still I have to set aside those negative emotions to act rationally… My heart breaks upon seeing my niece cries so much when she is sick…I am so much happy to see the smile on my nephew Bryan when he got his first ribbon in my tutorial class..I jump with joy upon knowing that my tutees made it to the honor list. I know these are just basic examples.  They don’t even came from my womb but I feel pain when they are hurt and gladness in all their accomplishments. Multiply what I feel by 1000 and that is how their real mothers feel.

For me, motherhood is not just the duty of women for procreation. It is way more than having cute kids for neighbors to adore. It is so much more than the webster can define. It is no extraordinary job. It is the highest salaried job – since the payment is genuine respect and pure love. A line in Proverbs says: “God couldn’t be everywhere (physically) so he gave us mothers. I know that this is so true because I have the best mom. And with no doubt I say, I am looking forward to be a good one in God’s time.
