Help for the single mom.
Lets face it , it’s not easy being single or being a mom but being both just takes the cake. I was a single mom for seven years. And I can truly say it was harder than most jobs. I love my sons , before my second son came along I was a single mom. I was Daddy, Mommy ,money maker, home keeper. I was every thing.
But I wasn’t alone and nether are you. I want to tell you a few things that got me through the struggle.
Have Support
Have Friends that are moms too. Singles moms are great if they’re older than you then they can help guide you. If they’re your age then you can help each other. Other single moms know what you’re going through cause chances are they’re going through it to. My friends and I would give each other cards on Fathers Day.
Find a Good Church
Church is a great place if you can find one that is supportive of you and you being a single mom. Find a mentor to help you through time of spiritual needs, a prayer partner in a sort. God loves you too.
Saving Money
Saving money is a must . To survive you should save up a little money. In case some thing happens. When I was single in one weekend I lost my job, two tires on my car blew and my hot water heater broke. I had a little money put away and that helped. So as a good measure start saving a few bucks here and there. And don’t tell anyone about your savings. Anyone is capable of taking it. I use to save all my quarters in a jar and a close family member took half and that was my vacation money. People will use you if you let them, don’t let them.
Give Yourself Some Free Time
If you have someone to watch the kids a few hours and wont expect a lot of money for it . Take a day to yourself. You need it. Go be with other adults or go read a good book with a good mocha. Take time for you. Its away to relax and safer for your kids. Relive the stress in some way.
Cut Your Expenses
Sometimes its necessary to cut our expenses. Cutting out things you can live without. I had to do that when I lost my job. I cut out my cableTV , changed my phone plan, cut off my cell phone and started using coupons. I didn’t like having to do all that but it did save me that year.
Its about making it work for you and your kids. Life isn’t easy and it’s even harder for single moms. Just be strong and hang in there. I hope this helps some of you out there.
