Well, it didn’t take long for the trial and the deliberation on the guilt to Balfour…..

I have a haunting feeling about Donelle Donerson, the mother of Jennifer Hudson.  It’s the same kind of eerie feeling that I adopted when Kanye West’s mother passed.  If there was anything positive that came out of the death of Ms. West was that Kanye was certainly opposed to his mother getting nipped and tucked.  Hollywood has a way of side tracking people some times.  She was 57 years old with an underlying heart condition which made the surgery risky in the first place.  My guess is that she felt that everything would simply be alright, as many of us would because I never connected death to these types of cosmetic procedures.  I liked that lady, even though I never spoke to her but did get a glimpse of her at the University in which she taught.  As controversial as Mr. West can get, I have prayed for this young man.  He loved and idolized his mother. You could feel it.  I loved the way she talked about allowing him to pursue his musical dreams.  I’m not even young and I like his music. I could feel the love when I heard him or read about his feelings for her.  Still she just slipped away from this world when I think he probably needed her the most.

Then I think of Jennifer Hudson’s mother.  Jennifer needed her mom too.  I remember the night that Jennifer was accepted in the fold of American Idol and how youthful her mother looked, gushing and smiling over her daughter’s acceptance in that TV Talent Contest.  Her sister Julia beamed on as well.  It was like yesterday – this snapshot of them that I would have otherwise  forgotten had Jennifer not went on to become an Award Winning Actress.  And to her goodness too, Jennifer didn’t just spring out of the blue thinking she could sing because she may  have sound good in the shower.  No.  She was better than that.  She sang for a Cruise Line and did have an Agent.  She wanted something in life and she got it.  Chicago is always proud of their talent.  We are a very controversial city.  I should know.  I’ve never lived anywhere else which isn’t particularly anything for me to rave about.  But it’s something about our talent here.  When we find someone good, they usually shoot straight to the top.
