Stay-at-home moms have a great opportunity afforded to them through blogging.

Whether it’s from the recent economic downturn or by choice, more and more women are finding themselves back at the homefront and in search of new opportunities to make some extra money, promote their products or services, or just vent while at home.

Blogging can be a great way to do all of this and it can also bring on additional opportunities and even enriched your life.

Have you considered any of these reasons to blog?

  1. Release – A blog can be a place to vent, share, laugh, and rant.  You can do this anonymously if you choose.  What a great way to get some free therapy!
  2. Support – Often, Moms will choose to blog about some crisis they are facing.  Perhaps a child with a rare illness or the death of a loved one.  Many Army wives blog to help them cope with the long absences of their husbands.  Sometimes getting comments from others who share your plight can help you to deal with the situation.
  3. Promote – If you sell a product or provide a service then a Blog is a great way to compliment your company website.  You can speak to your customers in a less formal fashion.  Discuss your products and allow them to ask questions.
  4. Contribute – If you are the volunteering type you can create a blog for your local church or Little League team. Donating your time to help a cause you believe in can be very fulfilling.
  5. Make Money – Blogging is a great way to make money.  Affiliate ads and Adsense can bring in an enormous chunk of change when done right.  You could also blog for others and make money as a ghost writer.
  6. Refine Your Skill – If you had always dreamed of writing your own novel then blogging could prove to be a great way to refine your writing skills.  You could create a novella type blog and post a new chapter each week.  The feedback from your readers will help to tell you where you need to improve and it can also help you create a little buzz around your name so that when you do write that novel, you will already have some customers.
  7. Leave a Legacy – Why not blog just to leave a memory for your children.  It will live on long after you have gone and can be archived for reading later if your children are too young now.  Blogs do give you the ability to keep them private.
  8. To Learn – If you enjoy learning new things then a blog is a perfect way to do this. Simply pick a subject you want to know more about and start blogging about it. Just the process of doing the research and writing down the information will help you to better understand it. You will also be providing a service to others who may want to learn the same thing.
  9. Change Your Life – Many stay-at-home and work-at-home moms have learned that blogging can change their life dramatically.  A good example of this is Julie Powell. She is the name behind the movie “Julie & Julia”. Her blog inspired a book and then a movie which completely changed her life forever.
  10. Network – Blogging can help you meet others in your niche. Most often your comments can provide great leads to others in your field or who have the same interest. Start to comment back and you will begin to build new relationships.

So, skip the soaps and get blogging. There are so many reasons to start and a ton of benefits once you do.
