Stacy and Brian’s Emotional Affair

An emotional affair is an involvement between a married man or woman with a person of the opposite sex, which brings about a lot of bonding, a lot of sharing, which is kept secret from the spouse, and which brings about an obsession amongst the two culprits, to the detriment of the marriage. It comes with an emotional withdrawal from the spouse. Examples of such cases are:

1.       Manager and Secretary;

2.       Married lady and workmate with whom they work very closely;

3.       Married man and a female workmate with whom they work very closely;

4.       Pastor and a church member whom he has been counseling all alone;

5.       A married person with an acquaintance who stays in the neighborhood, and with whom they meet frequently, possibly while going to work in the morning, and perhaps who offers a lift;

Most of the time, emotional affairs do not turn physical. However, sexual tension builds up, especially if the two meet alone at secluded places.

For the innocent victim, an emotional affair Is far more painful than a full-blown affair. This is because of the high level of betrayal occasioned by the lying habits of the culprit. Also, the culprit is bound to be in denial, and will lie, albeit not very wisely, causing anger on the part of the innocent victim.

Stacy, 38, appeared to be a very happily married woman. She would spend a lot of time with the husband, especially on weekends and would walk hand in hand. At their neighborhood, they were rated as the number one couple. At one of the social gatherings together with members of their residence, way back in December 2004, they were voted the couple of the year.
