My Life in 150 Words or Less

Readers Digest is holding a contest so I am working on an entry- please review and make suggestions- thanks in advance. Trying to decide what is important in my life and how to convey it in a short piece.

The most important life lesson I think I have ever learned from my parents is acceptance and forgiveness. My parents were married for 60 years before my mother died. They were a couple that still bantered, still cared enough about what they believed in to argue about things, but still loved each other enough not to sweat the small stuff. I want my own relationships to be this way.

I try to bring these life lessons to my own marriage and my own family. They were not perfect parents but they tried their best. I hope my kids and grandkids will say the same about me and my husband. My parents were wise enough to learn from their mistakes but at the same time stayed true to themselves and did what they felt was right. They talked about the past with nostalgia but were present in the moment. My heros.
