Why marriage does not work in today’s society.

Marriage just isn’t what it used to be. Why do people continue to get married, only to divorce, cheat, abuse and agonize? In a world where you can practically design everything from your body to your children, who needs a partner for life? There are some very old fashioned folks out there that can respectfully hold a marriage together, because they really do believe in one partner for life. However, as we evolve and discover that there is no wrong in safely and honestly pursuing our sexual and relationship needs, we find less need for marriage.
And that speaks volumes about love. Love isn’t what it used to be either. Most people fall ‘head over heels’ in love about one time in their life, until they realize that there is no such thing as a ‘one time love’. We can meet our ’soul mate’ several times over the span of our lives, yet we still wind up married and resentful of the very familes we fantasized about. We can’t understand why its just not working because our perception of ‘right and wrong’ has been shaped by everyone else in history but us! Cheating, abuse, lies and self-demoralization set in. How did we get stuck here? We continue to believe, without a doubt, in an ancient tradition. Marriage, like religion, causes more pain and suffering in the end.
