Everyone wonders at some point in their relationships if they should take the next step. Sometimes, it just seems right but there is always that small feeling that you should wait longer or that something might change for the worse in the relationship.
Everyone wonders at some point in their relationships if they should take the next step. Sometimes, it just seems right but there is always that small feeling that you should wait longer or that something might change for the worse in the relationship.
The first thing to know about this is that it’s normal. So many factors play a part in getting married. Taking into consideration that men and women both view marriage prep differently and rate their reluctance to walk down the aisle in different ways, it’s not so easy to determine. Religious practices also carry different guidelines about what is proper in the courting world. This is a great way to find the perfect match because you look for practicality in the other partner. One of the biggest misconceptions of our time is that marriage is a fairytale.
Many (women especially) have been raised to think that they will meet the man of their dreams and they will right off into the sunset on a black stallion. We all have heard it so many times it’s like a modern day, misconceived, broken record. The truth is, although loving one another and having butterflies is important, it’s not critical to whether a relationship will last or if you will be genuinely happy in that relationship. Physical attraction to the other person is recommended but isn’t what will make or break your relationship. In fact, if you think you couldn’t live without a beautiful looking spouse, don’t get married. At one point in your life together, your spouse won’t appeal to you. It’s about time someone started to tell you the truth. If you want to get married but aren’t sure about it, try and consider some main points in successful marriages. Do you have respect for the other person? How do you communicate? How do you communicate when you argue? How do you express yourself to the other person? How you talk to your fiance has a lot to do with whether or not you will last. Do you have responsible, honest and open conversations? Can you have an argument but still come out with a compromised solution?
If you feel like you can live life together in a way that is passionate but conservative, then you have good marriage ground to stand on. Remember that when you get married you are with each other “for better or for worse” and divorce shouldn’t be an option. Too much of our society says that divorce is a trend; that if you don’t like it, it’s easily replaced. That’s not the way to true happiness. Be prepared to put your heart into your spouse and be ready for a wonderful adventure full of surprises.
