Ashley Madison – No Thanks!

It is unbelievable to me that such a site exists.
Really, I have to wonder what is wrong with people, if an actual business can be based upon infidelity. I have no idea how I ended up on their e-mail list, but I have recently started receiving e-mails from Ashley Madison. If you are unfamiliar with this site, here’s a bit of information. According to Wikipedia, “Ashley Madison is an online dating service and social networking service marketed to people who are already in a relationship with the slogan “Life is short. Have an affair.” The website was launched in 2001. The name of the site was created from two popular female baby names “Ashley” and “Madison”.”
I just don’t even know what to say, except to agree with the sentiments of Trish McDermott, a consultant who helped found Match.com, who describes Ashley Madison of being a “business built on the back of broken hearts, ruined marriages and damaged families”. If anything is close to the heart of God, it is the institution of marriage, for on marriages are what homes and society are built upon. How anyone with a conscience would build a business upon tearing down marriages is beyond me. I truly hope I never meet anyone to whom the almighty dollar is that important.
I am thankful for those who meant it when they took their vows, and to those convinced that an affair is okay as long as it is discreet, remember the words of Jesus, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (Luke 8:17). I have also heard it said that “when adultery walks in, everything worth having walks out,” and I happen to agree.
