You are Beautiful

Here is some advice to help you gain body confidence.

What did you think when you looked in the mirror this morning?  Did you think ‘I look absolutely gorgeous today?’.  Probably not.  Everyone has parts of their body which they dislike.  Here are some tips to help you get over them and feel happier and more confident in your own skin.

Don’t compare yourself to others.  You are you.  Judy Garland once said ‘Better to be a first rate version of yourself than a second rate version of someone else.”

Focus on how you feel, rather than how you look.  There is no point in starving yourself and putting your health in jeopardy just so you look better.  Who wants to be a beautiful corpse?

Wear the correct size.  Nobody can see your label when you are wearing it, and you will look, and no doubt feel better.  Wearing a size smaller, actually makes you look bigger. If it bothers you that much, you can always cut out the label.

Acknowledge and appreciate what your body can do.  It can walk, run, dance, breathe.  You are a walking, talking miracle.

If it is post-pregnancy weight that is getting you down, just take a look at your baby.  Your body has done the most amazing thing, it has grown another human!  Surely that is worth a bit of a flabby stomach and some stretch marks?

True beauty is not skin deep,  Beauty is a state of mind, not the state of your body.  Nurture your inner self, whether you choose a relaxing candle lit bath or cosying up with your favorite book.  If you feel good on the inside, you will in turn feel good outside and therefore look good on the outside.

When you are bombarded with pictures of ‘perfection’ everywhere, from television to advertisements remember nobody looks like Angelina Jolie or Julia Roberts.  Not even Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts!  Behind the scenes before the stars face the cameras or red carpet, there is a team of experts working overtime to get them looking good.

Don’t obsess.  An average healthy woman in the UK is 5′4 and weighs 140lbs, whilst the average model is 5′11 and weighs 117lbs.  The average model weighs 23% less than the average woman.  That is why models are paid so much – they are so rare.

Play up your good points.  Find your best feature and highlight this, while playing down your not so good features.

Remember, you are beautiful in your own way.
