Using Food for Beauty

Household food staples serve purposes for beauty!
Items that mostly everyone has in their household can be used to create at home facial masks. It’s time to think outside of the box and get creative when it comes to beauty. Buying high end, expensive products is not always the trick to making your skin look great. Most items you can consider a staple have great benefits that you can’t always see. Consider th esestaples that can be used to give you some ideas, and while you do, think of the nutrional value to each, and how it can work to be beneficial although the item isn’t being digested.
Milk
Applying some milk to your face is a great trick to make your skin soft. It also can be very calming. You can use the milk straight from the fridge, cold, or you can microwave it just a few seconds to warm it up. Warm milk is a good way to really make the skin soft because the warmth encourages pores to open up.
Sugar or Salt
Whichever one you prefer is a great way to exfolitate. You can rub it on your skin (feel free to mix it with some milk to get some moisture in there for ease when applying to skin) or make a mixture and apply it to your skin. Leave it on for a while (however long you like, but remember that the longer amount of time, the better, and don’t rush it and go washing it off quick). This will really clean out pores, especially when used like a scrub.
Eggs
You will only want the white, so get rid of the yolk by separating the two. Egg whites are a great way to rejuvanate skin. Add some of the other staples mentioned if you wish, in a bowl and apply to your skin (or skin the additions if you like, that’s okay, too!). You’ll feel the egg make your skin feel tight and dry, but do not worry; it is only doing it’s job.
Remember that do-it-yourself facial masks are not about following directions. If you look up a mask you want to do but don’t have certain items, feel free to substitute. It’s all about getting creative. Use whatever items you think may have some benefit. Do not mix more than 3 items though, or else some of the benefits become less likely to kick in.
