Home made facial masks and body scrubs, natural ingredients.
Every women should be pampered, but like most of us our beauty is hidden behind dry pale skin and frizzy unmanaged hair, thank goodness the bags under our eyes don’t tell stories and only imply them. The women of the world need to feel beautiful inside and out. Obviously if you are like me you either don’t have time for the spa or can’t afford it, so why not give your self a spa treatment at home.
I know especially for moms that finding a quiet moment for yourself is usually impossible but if you can mange to find a few minutes a week or even once a month here are a few exfoliating recipes and tips to bring the spa home.
First once you have some alone time get a warm bath prepared, if your bathroom isn’t “Spa Quality” take a trip to the dollar store, candles, incense, a loufa, and some bubble bath….if you want to go all out get some scented oils from the health food store…. Once you have these your spa bath is ready to start… So now what…how about a facial scrub, or a moisturizing mask. Try these recipes….
For nourished skin try; Banana Avocado Mask
Ingredients
- 1.2 over ripened banana
- ½ over ripened avocado
- 2 Tbsp unflavoured full-fat yogurt
- 1 tsp$ olive oil
Mash banana and avocado, mix with other ingredients and mix well. Apply to face and neck, leave for 25 minutes then rinse with warm water.
Smooth Skin with; Honey-almond Mask
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp yogurt
- ½ tsp almond oil
Mix all ingredients together until blended, apply to face, leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, gently wipe residue with damp cloth.
Tighten skin with; Peach Mask
Ingredients
- 1 ripe peach
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp unflavoured full-fat yogurt
Peel and pit peach, blend together with egg white and yogurt until smooth. Pat gently onto face. Leave for thirty minutes, rinse with cool water.
Scrubs
Coffee body scrub
Ingredients
- 2 cups of coarse ground coffee
- ½ cup of Turbinado raw sugar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Take a warm bath or hot shower to open your pore and hydrate your skin. Rub the coffee mixture into your skin in large circles with even and firm pressure. Shower to rinse, pat dry and follow with an unscented body lotion or a light vegetable oil.
Almond-Oatmeal Scrub
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup coarse ground almonds
- 1/3 cup dry fine oatmeal
- ½ tsp dried sage
- Plain full-fat yogurt as needed
Add almonds, oatmeal and sage to food processor or blender and grind on pulse until they reach a course meal consistency. Keep covered in an air tight container until ready to use. Upon each use take medium sized handfuls of the mixture and combine with enough yogurt to form a thick paste. Rub gently over skin with a washcloth or loufa, and rinse with cool water. Follow with gentle moisturizer.
