The way we look says a lot about ourselves. It is no wonder that we take great effort in making ourselves look good. You never know when you will bump into an old schoolmate at the mall or invited to a high school reunion.
Of course, it is only natural for us not to look as young as we used to, however, just because we age does not mean that we have to look and feel old. There are many things we do to make ourselves looks good. We could put on some makeup, revamp our wardrobe or restyle our hair. Some of us even go to the extent of going on a crash diet and signing up for cosmetic surgery.
There are ways in which we can present ourselves in order to look and feel good just as we are, without going through drastic measures. All it takes is some confidence and patience. The most visible signs of ageing appear on our skin, especially on the face. They take the form of lines, sags, nags, spots and pigmentation.
Unfortunately, we cannot stop the signs of ageing. Hiding your face from your friends will not help much either. So what can you do?
Here are some tips to bring out the youth in your skin:
- Stay away from direct sunlight and UV rays
- Exercise regularly
- Drink plenty of water
- Sleep at least six to eight hours a day
- Eat at least six to eight hours a day
- Eat at least five servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day
- Stop smoking
- Supplement your diet with a balanced combination of antioxidants such as vitamin A, vitamin C, beta-carotene, selenium, lycopene and proanthocyanidins
It may take some time before you see or feel any results, but it is beneficial adopt the above tips into your lifestyle. Youth aside, if you stay positive about the way you look, you will feel happy and comfortable, which ultimately leads to confidence. So why worry about your looks when you can let confidence speak for itself?
