With so many brands of anti-aging creams, lotions and serums out there, which one is right for you?

An anti-aging moisturizer is preventive care. Start young and you can delay the onset of wrinkles. These days there are even anti-aging moisturizers that turn back the hands of time, making you look younger with prolonged, regular use.

Choosing the right anti-aging moisturizer can be very tricky. Pick the wrong one and you could end up with pimples or rashes.

The trick is to pick a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

If your skin is oily, pick an oil-free moisturizer. Dry skin can take the richer anti-aging creams.

What are the ingredients you should look out for in a good anti-aging moisturizer?

For day, pick one with an SPF of at least 15. The most damaging thing to your skin is sunlight. UV rays age your skin prematurely, so your single most effective anti-aging product is a sunblock which you wear all day long.

Pick a moisturizer with anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants like vitamins A, C and E, green tea, pycnogenol, co-enzyme Q10 amongst many others neutralize free radicals. Left unchecked, free radicals found in the environment and produced in the body damage the cells, causing you to age faster.

Every brand has its own patented anti-aging complex. Pick one within your budget and which is formulated for your skin type, that is, oily, combination, dry or normal. Use it as directed and watch out for any skin reaction. If your skin breaks out in pimples or rashes or has any adverse reaction to that moisturizer, stop using it. That is not meant for you. Try another brand. Once you find a moisturizer that works for you, stick to it.
