A flawless and beautiful complexion is something we all rave about and conventional home remedies can actually help us keep our skin young and problem free with no side effects.

Skin is the largest organ of our body and needs tender care. In today’s fast pace life most of us get little time to pamper our skin. Apart from eating a healthy diet, following a regular work out regime, taking eight to nine hours of sleep and maintaining an emotional and mental well being there are few easy steps we can follow at home to keep our skin young and vibrant forever.

To tighten the pores and treat sun burn:

Take two teaspoons of gram floor or Besan(chick pea flour) ,you can get it in international food store and mix it with half tea spoon of turmeric. You can use milk if you have dry to normal skin and rose water or water if you have oily skin, to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on face and neck using upward strokes and leave it until it dries and tightens the skin. Wash it off with luke-warm water. Using this mask twice in a week can reduce fine lines and also helps to treat sun burn.

To treat pimple marks and pigmentation:

Cut half tomato (preferably wine tomato) and grind it to make a thick paste. Apply it on face and neck evenly, leaving area around the eyes. Since the paste would dribble the juice make sure you keep a paper towel or tissue handy. Lie down and close your eyes for half an hour. Wash the mask with tap water. Pat dry with a soft towel. This remedy is helpful in treating blemishes caused by pimples and pigmentations.

For glowing complexion:

Take two tea spoon of yogurt and mix one tea spoon of fresh lime juice in it. Mix it well and apply on face. Leave it for thirty minutes and wash it with tap water. This remedy brings glow on the skin.

To treat dark circles and puffiness under the eyes:

Cut half a medium size potato and wash it well. Peel its skin and grind it. Apply it around the eyes covering the area completely. Rest for half an hour and after that wash it with tap water. This is very helpful in reducing puffiness and dark circle around the eyes.

To treat extremely dry and flaky skin:

Some people have skin so dry and flaky that no matter how much moisturizer they apply, it does not really help. Applying honey on the face helps skin rejuvenate and become moisturized. Applying home- made butter also improves the texture of dry and flaky skin.

To treat oily and pimple prone skin:

Wash face with Besan (Chick Pea flour) twice a day, make a thick paste of turmeric and apply a pea size  of  the paste on the pimple leave it until it dries. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory property and heals faster.

Following these simple steps can not only treat our problem areas but also help us retain the youthful complexion for longer.
