Get a Suntan Without the Dangers of Sun Exposure
We are all aware of the dangers of sun exposure, but don’t you just love the look of a good suntan? It makes you look leaner, toned and healthy. Let me give you a few tips on how to get the look safely.
You will need a fine mist sunless tanner containing DHA and spray it uniformly from head to toe. I will tell you how to get the best results.
- Before showering, exfoliate your entire body and your face gently.
- Apply a rich moisturizer from head to toe to ensure the self tanner goes on smoothly.
- Choose a tinted self tanner in a light or medium hue. You can add a layer after the color has developed, for a darker hue but you can’t go lighter.
- Start at the feet and work upward, stopping when you reach the wrist and the top of the neck.
- Avoid the ankles, elbows and between the toes, drier areas can take to much color, and then wipe them with product left on your hands. Wash your hand when finished.
- For hands, spray tanner on make up sponge, and wipe it over the top of hands and fingers.
- For face, use make up sponge to blend a tanner formulated for the face, avoiding eyes and hairline.
- Apply self tanner an hour before bed. Once dry put on a dark colored pair of pajamas in case pigment rubs off.
As an alternative to a self tanner, try a moisturizer with a hint of DHA, results are subtle but intensify with each daily application, or you can fake it with makeup: with a large powder brush swipe bronzer onto areas the sun would naturally hit, bridge of nose, cheekbones, chin and forehead.

Better safe than sorry. I used to lay out in the sun all summer but no more. I wish I had never done it now.
