When we look in the mirror, a lot of times we are not completely content with our reflection. Everybody has something they dont like about themselves, but the problem of confidence stems in when we allow our imperfections to define who we are and what we do. Some people can look in the mirror, see an imperfection and say I love myself the way I am and I’m ok with it but for the majority of people unfortunately, this is not the case.
I’ve read several magazines and articles that give advice such as list three things you like about yourself and repeat them until you believe your words. That method may work for some, but honestly when you cant find anything you like about yourself it can be more damaging to your self esteem. The key to loving your reflection is acceptance. That is the first step to growth in your journey. Do not compare yourself to others because everyone has flaws, whether visible or not.
Another key step in loving yourself and hence building your confidence is to be realistic in what you don’t like about yourself. Remember ‘perfection is an illusion not a reality. Once you’ve identified what disturbs you about your image, you should ask yourself what can I do about it? and make the decision to invest in yourself, because your worth it. Lets say for example you suffer from acne, and you desperately crave healthy skin, you can get an acne product that works for you. Also healthy skin has a lot to do with your diet so you should change your diet by eating more fruits and vegetables, exercise a little bit during the week and I promise you you will start to see a difference, not only in your skin but also your mindset.
