Tips on Wearing False Eyelashes

Clumping coats of mascara is not best solution for making puny lashes look lush.  The solution: falsies!  Even a drugstore brand of false eyelashes will bring out amazing results.

1. Perfect your pair.  Trim your fakes so they fit the length of your eyelid.  Here’s how:  Gently remove them from the packaging and rest them against your lash line.  Snip away any overlap from the outer corner with a pair of sharp scissors– you want your falsies to fall just short of the inner corner of your eye. 
2. Prep your lid.  It’s best to line your eye before you break out the glue.  If you apply the false lashes a little above your own lashes, the liner will camouflage the telltale space that would show up otherwise.  Any liquid eyeliner would be good.  It creates denser, more even lines and stays on longer than regular pencil liner.
3. Stick ‘em up.  With your fingertip or a toothpick, apply a thin coat of eyelash glue to the base of your fake lashes.  Do not use black eyelash glue, which, unlike the white glue that dries completely clear, is totally unforgiving of any mistakes you make.  Next, position the false lashes as close to your own as you can and press down gently with your fingers.  Hold for 10 seconds until the glue has started to dry. 
4. Apply your mascara.  The key to a believable look is to “glue” your natural lashes to your falsies with mascara.  Sweep one coat onto all your lashes, allow to dry, and then follow up with a second coat.  If you need to touch up your liner, do it now.
5. To remove: gently pull your lashes off then use eye-makeup remover to take off extra glue, mascara and liner.  It’s better if you throw away your false eyelashes after one use.  They are cheap, and it’s much more sanitary to buy a fresh pair for every wearing.
